Chocolate Cake With Ganache And Strawberries

(Serves: 12)

Ingredients Needed For The Cake:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1 cup of cocoa
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon espresso powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup of vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Step By Step Instructions To Make The Cake:

Preheat the oven to 350º F. Prepare round bundt pan by spraying with baking spray or buttering and lightly flouring.

For The Cake:

Add the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, salt and espresso powder to a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer. Whisk through to combine or, using your paddle attachment, stir through flour mixture until combined well.

Next, add the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla to flour mixture and mix together on medium speed until well combined.

Reduce the speed and carefully add boiling water to the cake batter. Beat on high speed for about 1 minute to add air to the batter.

Distribute cake batter evenly in the pan. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, until a toothpick or cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes.

Place cake in the fridge to cool down.

Chocolate Ganache

(Servings: Makes 2 Cups)

Ingredients Needed For The Chocolate Ganache:

  • 9 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon dark rum (optional)
  • 1 box strawberries

Step By Step Instructions To Make The Chocolate Ganache:

Place the chocolate into a medium bowl. Heat the cream in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring just to a boil, watching very carefully because if it boils for a few seconds, it will boil out of the pot.

When the cream has come to a boil, pour over the chopped chocolate and whisk until smooth. Stir in the rum if desired.

Allow the ganache to cool slightly before pouring over a cake. Start at the center of the cake and work outward.

For a fluffy frosting or chocolate filling, allow it to cool until thick, then whip with a whisk until light and fluffy.

Add one box ultra-sweet large strawberries, for flavor and decor.

Use the strawberries to give your cake a sexy colorful dimension. Decorate to your heart’s desire!
