Exquisite Grilled Spanish Octopus

Exquisite Grilled Spanish Octopus

In my professional career, I quickly found that not all Octopi are equal. Not too long ago, I had the pleasure of Gullo Seafood sending me a half a dozen of these very tender and delicate creatures. It was a bit intimidating at first because I had never been sent an entire octopus before!

Exquisite Grilled Spanish Octopus

If you’re unfamiliar with octopus, they can be very tough because there is virtually no fat on them.  Luckily, Gullo seafood’s source comes directly from Spain and Portugal. The octopus is tenderized in fresh spring cold water and salt, with no chemicals or additives. To save the flavor, they are flash-frozen and shipped overnight via UPS to your doorstep.

Set the prepared tentacles aside in a clean mixing bowl.

Add extra virgin olive oil and salt to the bowl. Top it off by squeezing fresh lemon juice over the top.

Step 3: Preparing The Spaghetti

Cook the spaghetti al dente in boiling water for 7-10 minutes. After that, taste the spaghetti every thirty seconds until it is firm but not crunchy. When it’s just right, remove it from the water and rinse.

In a separate bowl, add the spaghetti and salt and pepper to your desired taste.

Add 2 tsp of salted butter and 3 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil.

Finally, add freshly grated parmesan on the top.

Pro Tip: I love to quickly grill sweet tricolor peppers and add as a side dish to add color and a bit of a sweet taste to the meal.
